Welcome to our NC home renovations page ... if this is not where you intended to go, you still have time to get out now...
Until recently this was a "work in progress" page so I hope you'll forgive me if some mess remains. We have now completed our renovation of the kitchen so I have taken some time to put this together for our friends and family who have expressed interest in what we have been doing this year.
This year we decided to redo the kitchen and screen in part of the deck to keep out most of the bugs and some of the pollen, etc. in order to enjoy the use of the porch more. The kitchen makeover involved replacing the flooring, appliances, cabinets and lighting (that's all, to quote Rocky)...
This project is addressed in order by date, to give you a sense of the amount of time (both elapse and effort) taken to prepare and complete the project. I'll give you a hint - it was a LOT longer than we had hoped... Here we go!
Note that the dishwasher arrived with a split in the drain hose. Unfortunately, this model does not permit the drain hose to be replaced so a replacement unit will have to be ordered (apparently from LG since the delivery schedule is "mid to late September at the earliest"...
And the (first) replacement door for the large cabinet (which had the wrong inside routing) arrives and is mounted - note the color difference (original door is on the right); it will be declined...
And so, the sagas begin...
Here we have the original, first and second replacement doors. Colors anyone?
Don't mind the dents - they're free of charge! Waiting for replacement #2...
Dent-free! So far, so good...
Out with the old and in with the new... yay!!! Now about the over-sink light...
A good job in moving the wire housing and patching the old holes - thanks, Eric!
An easy installation once all the prep was done - no assistance (or E.R.) required!
That's it for the kitchen; as always, you can send your comments and suggestions (maybe other, related links I might enjoy) to the address below... Have fun!
