This instrument came to me by way of a friend for whom I was producing a demo recording. I mentioned that many times I thought demos could benefit from the addition of a bass part and he said he had a friend that had one for sale, but it was an 8-string and an off-brand. I asked him to get a price from his friend along with some additional information and, once he did, it sounded like an interesting instrument for a reasonable price so I bought it. I've used this a few times on some recordings I made in the 80's but used it more as a baritone instrument than an actual bass. Either way, it sounds fantastic!
As you can see, this instrument is missing the "Hagstrom" logo from the headstock but I am in search of a correct replacement and hopeful for finding one soon.
The case is the original case for the instrument but is only of "chipboard" construction and doesn't provide much real protection - such is life.
And now for the pictures (click to enlarge):
So concludes the presentation of my 1967 Hagstrom 8-String Bass guitar. Feel free to contact me with any questions and/or comments.
